Information on traffic regulation at the Formentor lighthouse

Environmentally preserve one of the most iconic spaces on the Serra de Tramuntana, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is something we all must do, which is why we regulate traffic at the Formentor lighthouse during the summer.

The 2018 Pilot Mobility Plan reduced the flow of visitors during peak hours by 90% or, in other words, from 300 to 20 vehicles during peak hours. All of us at the different administrations involved in managing this space (Council of Majorca, the Balearic Islands government, the Pollença Town Council, Ports of Balearics and DGT) have decided to work together to conserve the essence of the Formentor lighthouse and commit to a sustainable and safe visit that lets the peacefulness of the surroundings be preserved and the unique experience it represents for visitors.

What is the regulated period? Which sections of road?

1st June to 30th September, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.

Formentor lighthouse stands at the northern endof the Serra de Tramuntana, an area thatstretches for a total of 90 km.Formentor peninsula is located in themunicipality of Pollença, 54 km from Palma, thecapital of the Balearic Islands.

In summer, there are restrictions on traffic to Formentor lighthouse in order to preserve and protect the outstanding scenic and natural heritage of the Serra de Tramuntana, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is everyone’s duty to care for it.

As a result, traffic on the Formentor road (Ma-2210) from Port de Pollença to the lighthouse will be restricted.

Public transport information

.

On the Formentor Peninsula, the line stops at the Mirador del Colomer, Formentor beach, Cala Figuera-Cala Murta and Formentor lighthouse.

Instead of paying the bus driver in cash, we advise payment by bank card or with the intermodal transport card. For up-to-date information on the timetable, prices and full route, see www.tib.org.

Where to park

The no. 334 bus links up with other lines operated by TIB at Port of Pollença bus station and at the stop in the old town ofAlcudia, and so full access by bus from other parts of Mallorca is possible without the need for a car.

For those driving to Port of Pollença by car, parking is available on the service roads alongside the ring road. There are three bus stops to Formentor on the ring road: Port of Pollença (42051), Bóquer (42057) and Can Singala (42055).
